With a new interest in writing poems and a new set of skills in Photoshop and scanning, I began in 2001 to work on a new project of Picture Poems.  They all attempt to combine visual elements with the words of the poem.  Sometimes the type itself is treated to suggest, for example, movement, and different fonts and colors have been used to suggest emotional tone and voice.  The pictures are sometimes found, sometimes my own, and sometimes several are combined at once.  Sometimes the visuals can be said to be illustrations of the poems, other times less so.  In any case, all are a departure from photography as I have practiced it before.
